Our advent activity yesterday was to make a Christmas flavored ice cream. Since our snacks haven't been the healthiest lately, I chose to have the kids make a frozen yogurt instead. They picked cherry frozen yogurt (it's sort of red is as close to having anything to do with Christmas, lol).
2 cups of frozen pitted cherries (thawed slightly)
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups Fage yogurt
6 oz lemon yogurt
6 oz vanilla yogurt
Sassyfras helped me process one bag of frozen cherries until they were smooth. She added a scant 1/4 cup of milk and 1/2 cup of sugar and processed again. Finally, she stirred the remaining ingredients in until the mixture was consistent. We used our ice cream machine to freeze it.
I recommend eating the yogurt once it's finished in your ice cream maker. We used kiwi and strawberry slices to top our froyo.
