A Visit to the Miami Zoo

We visited the Miami Zoo the other day.  This is such a great zoo and we really enjoyed our visit.   In addition to the amazing animals cared for here, there are play/water areas, surrey rentals, monorail/tram tours, feeding stations, a carousel, and more!  I didn't take many pictures as we were simply enjoying our visit.
These flamingos have made large mud nests and there were some that had eggs on them.

Monkey Frog
The zoo has a fairly new rainforest exhibit area.  We were impressed by the animals cared for here as well as the tropical plants in the area.  The Umbrella by Jan Brett and The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry would be great books to read before or after visiting here!
The zoo has several play areas.

The kids favorite area though, was this splash pad.  As you can imagine, it's very hot and humid here in Miami and it was a welcomed play area.  We were here early in the morning, so the kids had the whole area to themselves.

The zoo is so large that we didn't finish seeing everything, but they have a special rate if we return in the next 5 days, so maybe we'll see more.

Don't forget to check out this week's Summertime Fun Party.  There are some great links to fun there!

We don't have flamingos in our zoos in Australia, it would be awesome to see one in real life. Singapore Zoo has a fun mini water park for children as well and when we visited, we spent more time splashing than viewing!

Looks like a beautiful Zoo! Or maybe it's your pictures :o) We are members at our nearby zoo and go quite often—makes each trip more manageable when you can go back without spending another fortune! I hope you have another great time if you get a chance to go back.

Looks like a great zoo! We love zoo trips, and the flamingos are Princess Pea's favourite animal to see - but we've never seen nests or eggs - that is wonderful! (We have, however, seen some pretty amazing things at the zoo, including a panda conception! lol!)
