Leaf Man Glyphs, After School

Welcome to the After School Party!

One of the kids picked out Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert at the library this week.  I thought it would be fun to introduce glyphs to the kids.  While Juiciness and Little J were working on their jedi moves, Sassyfras and I worked on her picture.  She quickly answered the questions and then set to work.  She decided that she doesn't like to jump in leaf piles, but likes fall.  She has brown eyes and her leaf man is a girl fish.

When Little J came to see what she had made, I told him it was a fish.  When he replied he didn't think so, I told him, I can prove it. He was pretty impressed with how you could "read" the picture.

Super fun glyph idea to go with this terrific book. Glyphs are so fun in crowd art like in schools, I know that Smarty and her friends made some already this year. Thanks for co-hosting Afterschool!
