Winter Nature Tray

One part of Waldorf theory that we enjoy is making seasonal trays for our kitchen table.  Having a nature table has never fit with how we live, but our family is outdoors and enjoys nature so much that having a tray indoors seems right.

With the winter solstice fast approaching, we've started to build our winter tray.  So far we have our scented pine cones from our activities this week, some evergreen branches, a candle, a cinnamon salt dough ornament, and a bowl of bird seed to remind us to feed our feathery friends each day.  Our tray is lined with a blue starry play silk.  I imagine new finds from our winter walks will find their way to our tray in time.

We'll be making some birdseed cakes this afternoon as part of our advent activities.

This is a really great idea. My children have a nature table, and they usually move everything into one basket, so they can use the table. A tray would make things more portable!

Very nice. I like the way you did this.

It's a beautiful winter tray - we really need to rethink a few details about how we keep and display stuff.

I love that you added the bird seed. We feed the rabbits everyday. So, maybe we can add corn to our basket. Thanks for the idea! Kerri
