How to Make Magic Reindeer Food

how to make magic reindeer food
We filled ziploc bags with 1 scoop of birdseed, 3 spoonfuls of oatmeal, and 2 spoonfuls of blue sprinkles.

We made some simple reindeer food today.  I think it's a cute idea to sprinkle on the lawn on Christmas Eve, I just don't want it to be there in the morning and anyone wonder....

So, our reindeer food is a mix of birdseed, oatmeal, and candy sprinkles.  Hopefully, the Christmas birds will enjoy it too.

The book we read was The Little Reindeer by Caroline Repchuk.  It is about a father reindeer that leaves his little reindeer to go on a special secret job.  Little reindeer searches the forest to find his father and finally he does and he knows his father's special secret job.  The book is a tad wordy, but otherwise a cute story.

That's such a cute idea. Everyone leaves cookies for Santa, but most people forget the Reindeer, who Santa would be grounded without.

Lovely to think of the birds this time of year - we are afterall approaching Mid Winter and it is indeed very sparse out there! We made some popcorn garlands for the birds, but they don't seem too popular. Will need to give some "proper" bird feed a go!

Thanks for linking up (as always)

I bet the reindeer and all the other creatures will love this idea.

We make this every year on Christmas Eve and sprinkle it on the lawn before bed. I have been doing it for 11 years and not one of my children has ever noticed any the next morning. If there is any left, I would just say that the reindeer ate until they were full and left some to share with the birds and squirrels.

Very very cute!! We have all of these things and I think we'll be making the reindeer food soon. :-) We have "Olive The Other Reindeer" which we'll read, too. Thanks! I am your newest follower.

Got to keep the reindeers going too - such a lovely idea. Last year the reindeers left prints of their hooves on our lawn and Santa also left a few boot prints too!

Your children are going to love this tradition of leaving food for Santa's reindeers.

Oh, my mother called me this morning to let the kiddos know they saw a deer at their house this morning. Little Wild Man asked if it was one of Santa's reindeer- I think we need to get some of this chow ready for our house now too!
