Red and Green Muffin Tin Monday

With holiday sweets lurking at every corner, I've been trying to serve as many fruits and veggies for snack around here. Today, I did a red and green Muffin Tin Monday snack in a snowman (found in the Target $ section) muffin tin liner.

I used Santa food picks to write the words "red and green".  I figure they're never too young to see words in print.

For the red fruits, there were strawberries, apple slices, and raspberries.  For the green fruits, there were grapes, kiwi, and honeydew melon.  They devoured it!

I love all the red and green foods. The Santa picks are so cute. What a great way to review colors.

That really is a great idea. And you're right, there are so many sweets around right now that it's great to get in some extra fruit and veggies! Wonderful tin. :)

We have never given "Muffin Tin Monday" a go, but they always look so fun and make eating and food so much more interesting for the children. And of course it is very creative. Will have to join in soon!

My son would love it!

Absolutely, showing words and print and connecting them to ideas right from the start is the way to go in my view. Your tin looks delicious, fruit is so sweet and flavorful, I'd dive right in with happiness. The snowman liners make it really seasonal. I need to look for something like that.

Love that you added the words with the meal. I hadn't thought of that. We did colors too. Though we didn't have any fruit in ours. I couldn't fit it after fitting all the veges and trying to get some protein in. I almost didn't fit a grain in either. Yes, I try to get all "food groups" in the meals if I can because we try to discuss the tin and it's nutritional value each week.
you have some yummy fruit choices there.
