Family Fun Night, Fall Apple Tasting and Activities

Fall family fun night, apple tasting party

After our trip to the apple orchard we decided to have an apple tasting for our family fun night.  We picked honey crisp, golden delicious, and red delicious at the orchard and I purchased mcintosh, fuji, and pink lady from the grocery store.

These cute straw decorations came from here. I printed them out on the back of scrapbook paper.

I made caramel sauce for the tasting.  You can find the recipe here. It was super easy to make and very good.

how to have an apple tasting

We started the afternoon by watching...Snow White of course!  We did our tasting during an intermission (2 yo's don't watch tv long!).

Using a small melon baller, I scooped little apple bites and put them on lollipop sticks.  I used apple themed stickers to put on each stick so everyone could use the same stick through the tasting.

We finished the evening up by playing Apples to Apples.  It's a fun game that helps builds vocabulary.  The little ones even played with us as team members and had fun.

What a fun game night. I heard about Apples to Apples Jr, but have never played any of the versions. And I would be worried about tasting apples after seeing what happened to Snow White :)

Great family time! I love the idea of watching Snow White for the apple theme!!! We have Apples to Apples but haven't played it yet (we just got it).

How cool! Love this! Will have to do something like this when we do parts of the apple and the apple life cycle in a few weeks.
Thanks for sharing.
