Five Little Monkeys Wash the Car, stART

Our stART book today was Five Little Monkeys Wash the Car by Eileen Christelow.  My kids really love the Five Little Monkeys series, especially this one.
This book is about the Five Little Monkeys and Mama's old car.  They decide to sell it, but before they do the monkeys decide it should be washed.  However, washing doesn't help much, so they decide to paint it.  In the course of trying to push it closer to the road they end up down in the muddy swamp...with the crocodiles.  It ends with the monkeys cleverly selling the car and getting out of their crocodile mess.

I found a clip art car that I enlarged and printed.  They colored their cars using watercolor crayons.  These color just like crayons, but when you wipe over them with a wet brush they turn into water colors.  The kids enjoyed doing their project, but they would have turned out better on watercolor paper.  You can see another project they did here using watercolor crayons and watercolor paper here.

We have watercolor pencils that work in the same way. I've never seen this Little Monkey book. What happens when they wash the car, I wonder?

We love the Five Little Monkeys books but we haven't seen this one yet. We have watercolor pencils that we like to use for art projects - we used them to do ice painting over the summer and to make rain art.

Man, those monkeys like to cause trouble where ever they go- on the bed, washing the car, etc....
