Rainy Day Fun

It was a very rainy day here and the forecast is rain pretty much all week.  Since there was no thunder, lightening, or high winds, we went out to play anyway.  Everyone put on their rain boots and raincoats and headed out with a favorite waterproof toy.

We had a great time finding puddles to splash in and see who could make the biggest splash.

I put towels by the back door before we headed out to play, so when we came in everyone could dry off without making a huge mess in the house.

Bubble baths and hot (warm) tea followed.

oooo this looks like fun! Sometimes we think we are limited to the indoors when it is raining...but you have shown that you can go out, have fun, and then come back to the comfort of nice hot baths (and lovely hot drinks of course!)

Brilliant idea to leave the towel by the door. I need to remember that one!

Sigh, playing in the rain, so much fun.

Love rainy day play. It's just a pity my kids have grown out of their puddle suits :(

I am 54 years young and one of my favorite childhood memories is walking in all the puddles of water after a summer thunder shower. Great post!

Nothing like splashing in puddles! My 2yo loves it when we put 'leaf boats' in the gutters and watch them sail away.

Kuddos to you for getting your kids out there in the rain -- too many parents don't! Our favorite rainy day activity is seeing which items float in the water & which don't.

I actually recently wrote an article on this very topic which will be published next month! I included the towels by the door tip too, great minds think alike, especially when it comes to wet weather fun!

We had a wonderful time in the rain. They actually didn't play with the toys they brought out with them. Lara and Debi- I bet they would have enjoyed leaf boats and sink float items...we'll have to try that next time. Christie, I can't wait to read your article. I bet you have all sorts of great ideas.

What a lovely day! I agree that so long as you're inthe right clothes there's lots of fun to be had outside whatever the weather. Thank you for joining in the Carnival of Outdoor Play

Those puddles were just made for jumping in! You were very organised indeed with your wet weather gear, towel and warm bath and tea.

Nice Shabby Blogs banner BTW :)
